Dies and Die Regrinding

Die Regrinding

Die regrinding can be a very cost-effective way to maintain your thread rolling tooling. Depending on the thread form, regrinding can cost as little as one-third the cost of new dies.

There are other advantages as well. Turnaround is much quicker when regrinding. Most dies can be reground a number of times, multiplying the savings every time.

Die Life

While every die and the way it's used is unique, standard thrufeed dies (annular ring, speed-up and helical slow feed) can generally be reground on an average of 4 to 5 times. The number of regrinds on infeed dies will vary depending on diameter and thread pitch. Even special dies can nearly always be reground.
